Biography

Marc Behrend was a goaltender who played college hockey for the University of Wisconsin, twice leading them to the NCAA Championship. In both 1981 and 1983 he was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, only the second player to win that award twice. Behrend was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the fifth round of the 1981 NHL draft. He played three seasons in the NHL, all with Winnipeg. He also bounced up and down a few years to the Sherbrooke Canadiens of the American Hockey League, finishing his playing career with them in 1986-87. He then returned to Madison, Wisconsin where he had worked as a firefighter and chef.
