Biography

Roger Chappot played ice hockey for Switzerland at the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. A high-scoring forward, he played for Switzerland in 101 international games, including the World Championships in 1959, 1962, and 1972, in addition to several B-Pool World Championships. He played for HC Villars and Genève-Servette, winning back-to-back league championships with HC Villars in 1963 and 1964. He led the league in scoring in 1964.

After his international and league career he continued to play amateur club hockey with Villars, Monthey, Chateau-d’Oex, and Champery until he was 57-years-old. In March 2020 Chappot became infected with coronavirus and succumbed to the disease, one of the early Olympian victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.
