Biography

Paolo De Chiesa was an Italian skier and journalist. A slalom specialist, he made his World Cup début in 1974 at 18-years-old. De Chiesa had 12 World Cup podiums in his career but never made the top step, placing second four times, and third eight times, all in slalom. In all he had 52 top ten finishes in World Cup. De Chiesa competed at the 1980 and 1984 Olympic Winter Games and had a fourth-place finish in slalom at the 1982 World Championships in Schladming. He retired in 1986 and dedicated himself to sports journalism, working with various specialized magazines and was also a commentator with RAI, the Italian public television network.
