Biography

Ignazio Dionisi was a mainstay in Italian ice hockey for many years before and after World War II and tutored many young players over the years. He started out as a defenseman but shifted to left wing, playing his entire career in Milano, first with Hockey Club Milano, then with Diavoli Rossoneri, and finally with HC Milano Inter. He won a total of nine Italian League titles with the three Milano teams (1933-36, 1941, 1947-48, 1950, 1952). With Diavoli he also won the prestigious 1935 Spengler Cup in Davos (Switzerland). Dionisi competed for Italy at the 1936 and 1948 Winter Olympics and at four World Championships. He retired in 1952, he later worked for the Italian Ice Hockey Federation.
