Alessandro Cavallaro

Alessandro Cavallaro’s most important international result was his victory in the 200 metres at the 1999 European Junior Championships at Riga with a mark of 20.46. In the same competition he also won a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay.

An athlete with Fiamme Gialle (the Italian revenue inspectors) where he was coached by Filippo Di Mulo, Cavallaro won two Italian titles in the 200 (2000 and 2003). In his only Olympic participation, after a mediocre 200 metre performance, he helped Italy qualify for the final of the 4x100m relay where he ran the second leg, with the squad finishing seventh. Cavallaro won 13 international caps from 2000-2006. After retiring from competition, Cavallaro was also councilor for sport in his city of Paternò in Sicily.
