Biography

Ski jumper Bernd Karwofsky first entered the international scene at the Four Hills Tournament 1965/66, when he finished 10th. Two years later he placed only 54th on the normal hill at the Grenoble Winter Olympics. Karwofsky briefly retired one year later and studied at the Pedagogic High School at Zwickau, graduating as a sports teacher, but in 1971 he started at the East German championships and finished fifth both on the normal and large hills. After reunification Karwofsky became head coach for Nordic combined at Klingenthal.
