Biography

Martin Krainz was an ice hockey defenceman who played at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics representing Austria. The team was eliminated in the group stage and finally placed 12th and last, after losing the match for 11th place to Norway 3-1. Krainz won 23 international caps. At club level Krainz played for EC Klagenfurter AC, Wiener (Vienna) EV, EK Zell am See, and Graz 99ers. He won four Austrian league titles with EC Klagenfurter AC (1986-88, 1991). Krainz was a physical defenceman who played a tough brand of hockey. He retired in 2008 and became an assistant coach and sports manager for Graz 99ers. He also went on to work for the sports agency Eurohockey Services.
