Alongside the athletics programme of “true” Olympic events at the 1904 St. Louis Games, dozens of other handicap non-medal events were also conducted. One such race was the 880 yards Olympic Collegiate Championship, which was won by Lynn Adsit. Adsit was born in New York City in 1882 and represented Princeton University. He was later part of the World War I draft in Steuben County that took place in 1917–18. Adsit survived the war but was only 45-years-old when he died in September 1927.
