Biography

Brad Wilkerson was an outfielder and first baseman who helped the United States win a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He also won a gold medal with the US team at the 1995 World Junior Championship.

Wilkerson played baseball at the University of Florida, where he was a three-time first-team All-American. He was selected by the Montreal Expos in the first round of the 1998 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. In 2000 he was with the Expos Double-A affiliate, the Harrisburg Senators, of the Eastern League, which enabled him to play in the Olympics.

Wilkerson made his MLB début in July 2001 with the Expos. He played from 2001-05 with the Expos, and after they moved to Washington, the Washington Nationals. In 2006-07 he was with the Texas Rangers and he finished his MLB career in 2008 with the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays. He signed a minor league contract for 2009 with the Boston Red Sox, but after a few games with their Triple-A team, the Pawtucket Red Sox, he retired from baseball.

In 2014 Wilkerson managed a middle school baseball team in West Palm Beach, Florida and led them to a league championship in his first season. In 2020 he was hired by Jacksonville University as an assistant coach. In 2023 the New York Yankees chose Wilkerson to be an assistant hitting coach.

In 2010 Wilkerson was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame and was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
