Biography

Sherwood Curran competed in the 1932 curling demonstration events. He competed with the Connecticut team, although Curran was originally from upstate New York. He was a member of the Utica Curling Club. Curran was President of the Grand National Curling Club in 1929-31

Curran graduated from Cornell University in 1894. In June 1895 he was made secretary of the Utica Homestead Aid Association and held that position his entire life. He became a director of the Utica Provident and Loan Association and served as treasurer beginning in 1918.

He served as president of the board of trustees of the Curran Scholarship Fund, which was established by his sister’s will to conduct music programs for boys and girls in the Utica area.
