Biography

Sid Akin was a left-handed relief pitcher who played for the USA in the 1984 Olympic demonstration baseball event. Akins played in college for Southern Cal. He was drafted in the third round of the 1984 Major League Baseball Draft by the Texas Rangers. The Rangers released him in 1986 and he was claimed by the Atlanta Braves. Akins played five years of minor league ball, making it to AAA ball in 1988 with the Richmond Braves. He retired after playing AA ball in the 1989 season.
