Bruce Holt was a talented high school baseball player who received a scholarship to study at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill while playing for the school. Following his graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and it was there that he was recruited to represent his country in the baseball demonstration event at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
