Biography

Curtis Myers played right field on the USA baseball team at the 1936 Olympic demonstration. Myers was from Hartford, Connecticut in 1936, although he is listed as representing the Penn Athletic Club. However, there is no evidence that he ever played for the Penn AC, and older minor league records show only that he played for a semi-pro team in Camden (NJ), the Morgan AC. He was the 21st player added to the Olympic demonstration baseball team and his appearance is a bit of a mystery.

At the time of the 1936 Berlin Olympics he was Lieutenant Curtis A. Myers of the US Navy, and had transferred to the Philadelphia Naval Yard in the summer of 1935. His naval record indicates that he had served on various ships as an executive officer in naval aviation, and had obtained a master’s degree in Paris. He played baseball at the US Naval Academy (Annapolis), graduating in 1927, which made him the oldest member on the 1936 USA team. After his military service Myers became a lawyer, possibly receiving that degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
