Biography

Cheri Swatek competed in the windsurfing demonstration at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, placing sixth. Cheri was the youngest of four windsurfing sisters. She also competed at the 1976 World Championships, placing 10th. Susie Swatek was World Champion in 1975 and 1976. Martha and Lori were also world class windsurfers, and the three sisters swept the podium at the 1976 Worlds, with Martha second and Lori third. Martha appeared in “Jaws 2” as a young teen who was eaten by the shark.

Cheri Swatek attended Long Beach State and also played on the USA women’s national water polo team. She later became a physical education instructor at Long Beach State, and coached there and the Long Beach Shore Club.
