Biography

Matt Taylor was a slalom canoeist who competed in Canadian slalom doubles at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, in 2000 with Lecky Haller and in 2004 with Joe Jacobi. Taylor won five national titles and had one World Cup podium, a bronze in 1998 at Wausau, Wisconsin.

Taylor graduated from Yale University in 1992 with a degree in political science and environmental studies. He became a consultant in outdoor recreation and conservation. From 2006-12 he was executive director of Adventure Sports Center International in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. In 2012-20 he was with Westwind Stewardship Group in Otis, Oregon as their executive director. He then moved briefly to as owner and director of Context Group in Portland, Oregon, and then became project director at Portland Botanical Gardens.
