Austrian white-water canoeist Kurt Presslmayr participated in the 1972 München Olympics when the white-water events were held at Augsburg. He came tenth in the kayak singles. At the canoe slalom World Championships he won gold medals in K1 in 1965 and with the K1 team in 1971, adding a bronze medals in the 1965 K1 team.
Presslmayr was more successful at the Wildwater World Championships, winning nine medals between 1963-73, with golds in the 1963 and 1965 K1. In 1965, Presslmayr was elected Sportsman of the Year in Austria.
