Georges Dantu was among the modern impressionists, who was specialized in the representation of winter landscapes and Japanese landscapes. His most well-known work is conserved in the collection of the Musée Carnavalet in Paris. He was also active as a tenor in the Opéra Comique, as well as a solo artist in music concerts at the Colonne and Lamoureux theaters in Paris. Le Skieur - Sous le ciel d’Engadine, an oil painting on canvas with a size of 82 x 100 cm was created in 1930. It was already exhibited in the Grand Palais in Paris in 1931, the year before the Olympic Games.
