Biography

Irishwoman Hilda Roberts studied at the Metropolitan School of Art in Dublin and was predominantly a portrait painter. She also created illustrations, drawings, embroideries and sculptures. Roberts married Arnold Marsh, the headmaster of Newtown School, Waterford, in 1932 and was involved in setting up the Waterford Art Exhibitions, which later led to the establishment of a permanent art collection in Waterford City.
