Biography

Camiel Eurlings was a Dutch politician and businessman. He was elected to the Netherlands House of Representatives in 1998 and served until he was elected a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in 2004. He served in a cabinet position as the Minister of Transport, Public Works, and Water Management from 2007-10. Eurlings retired from politics in 2010 to focus on his business career, serving as President and CEO of KLM Airlines from 2011-14. He also served on several corporate boards.

In 2013 Eurlings was co-opted onto the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and was quickly named chair of the Communications Commission. His IOC tenure was rather short, leaving in 2018.

In 2018 Eurlings was accused by a former girlfriend of a domestic violence incident in 2015. This was settled out of court, and details of the settlement were not released. Nevertheless, after this incident, Eurlings felt it best to resign from the IOC.
