Biography

Jan Mrzygłodzki, a Polish athlete born in today’s Ukraine, represented the “Czarni” sports club in Lemberg (now Lvív). In 1911, he set a Galician record of 35:33,4 min in the 10,000 m run. In 1912, he qualified at the Austrian trials and was entered in the 10,000 m at the 1912 Olympic Games but did not compete. In 1914, he also set Polish records over various distances between 4,000 and 10,000 metres.

Mrzygłodzki was first mentioned in the press in 1906, when, as a schoolboy in his hometown of Ulików, he received an award as a beekeeper.

Research: In later sources a well-known veterinarian of the same name appears in many sources. It is unknown whether this was the same individual.
