Naum Filimonov was entered for the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm to compete in the 400 m, 800 m, and the 4 x 400 m relay but did not start in any event.
Trained as an electrical technician he was promoted to head of Glavenergoprom, the main directorate for power and thermal equipment in the People’s Commissariat of Machine-Building. Filimanov lived in Moskva (Moscow) when he was arrested in October 1937. He was charged with “participation in an anti-Soviet sabotage organization”. Within six weeks, he was expelled from the Communist Party, sentenced to death by the military collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR, and executed one day later. In 1955, he was rehabilitated by the same institution that had convicted him.
