Biography

Sarah Garner was a rower who won a bronze medal in lightweight double sculls at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Garner also claimed three medals at the World Championships, with golds in the 1997 lightweight single sculls and the 1998 lightweight double sculls, adding a silver in the 1999 lightweight double sculls. Garner rowed in college for the University of Pennsylvania. In 1997 she was USA Rowing’s Female Athlete of the Year.

Garner later completed a master’s degree in public health and worked in pharmaceutical marketing. Around 2010 Garner and her husband, a research analyst for a mutual fund, moved to Hong Kong. She then established the Kai Tak Youth Rowing Club to encourage youngsters to take up rowing.
