Biography

Holmfrid Olsson came from the small village of Rörbäcksnäs near Malung-Sälen and competed for the local club. At the World Championships in 1966 and 1967 he earned bronze medals in the relay. Individually placing fourth he just missed the podium, but this was his best finish in an international top event. At the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble he won another relay bronze medal together with Olle Petrusson, Lars-Göran Arwidson and Tore Eriksson. In 1972 in Sapporo he competed again in both biathlon events placing fifth in the relay as his best result. He continued to take part as a veteran but died in 2009 at the age of 65.
