Bill Reichart

Bill Reichart was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba but became a US citizen. A junior star in Canada, he played four years of Major Junior Hockey with the Winnipeg Black Hawks and Winnipeg Barons from 1949-53. After coming to the US Reichart played for four years at the University of North Dakota. In one game in 1954 against the University of Minnesota, Duluth, he scored seven goals, and had nine points.

Reichart played for most of the 1960s in minor leagues, starting with the Denver Mavericks and Minneapolis Millers in the 1959-60 season, and the St. Paul Saints in 1961-62, all of the International Hockey League. From 1962-69, he skated with the Rochester Mustangs of the US Hockey League.

Reichart lived in Rochester, Minnesota and worked for IBM for 30 years. After retirement he and his wife settled near Pinehurst, North Carolina where he became quite a good golfer, playing in the 1994 US Senior Open at Pinehurst. Reichart is a member of the University of North Dakota Hall of Fame and was recognized by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association as one of the 50 greatest players in league history.
