Biography

Stanisław Szlendak played ice hockey either side of World War II for multiple teams in the Polish league. Szlendak had his best success with KTH Krynica, winning the Polish championship in 1950 and finishing as a runner-up twice (1951, 1953). In 1952 he was selected to represent Poland at the Oslo Olympics, playing in goal for their eight matches. He had a memorable match against the United States where he was fouled multiple times, but continued to play despite needing stiches to his face.
