Biography

An all-around athlete, Gérard Vuilleumier competed in the ski jump at the 1928 Winter Olympics, but was far better known as a cyclist for Switzerland. He was entered in the cycling road race at the 1928 Olympics but did not compete. As an amateur he won the Berne-Genève road race in 1928, adding the Grand Prix de Genève that year. As a professional he won the Berne-Genève road race in 1931 and won the Genevois Championship on the road in 1936. He was twice on the podium at the Swiss road championships, placing third among the amateurs in 1929 and third with the professionals in 1930. He competed once in the Tour de Suisse, finishing 34th in 1933.
