Austrian luger Franz Wilhelmer participated in the 1980 Lake Placid and 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. He came sixth in the men’s singles in 1980 and partnered Georg Fluckinger in the men’s doubles in 1984, when they finished an unfortunate fourth. Wilhelmer later founded his own Sport & Fashion Store at Vandans in Vorarlberg. He also became president of the Vorarlberg Luging Federation.
