Biography

Aleksandr Yelizarov made his international début at the 1975 World Championships when he won silvers in the 10 km and the relay. In 1976 he won an Olympic gold in the relay, Olympic bronze at 20 km, and another World Championship silver at 10 km. Yelizarov made his last international appearance at the 1977 World Championships, where he won his only World title in the relay and won a bronze in the 10 km. Domestically he won two Soviet titles in 1973 and 1975, both over 10 km. After his sporting career Yelizarov worked as a biathlon coach and now owns a sports equipment chain store in Russia.
