Austrian snowboarder Brigitte Köck won the bronze medal in the giant slalom event at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Her medal was the first Austrian snowboard medal at the Winter Games. In 1997, she became World Championship runner-up and obtained two third places, in 1999 and 2000, in snowboardcross and parallel slalom. In 1998, Köck was awarded the Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria. She later became a private health coach by profession.
