Radio and Television Commission

The Radio and Television Commission (RTV Commission) has been known by various names. The first “media” commission was the Press and Public Relations Commission, which was formed in 1967 and lasted until 1972. At that time, two separate Commissions, the Press Commission and the Television Commission were created. A Radio Commission existed briefly in 1984. In 1985, this was merged with the Television Commission to form the Radio and Television Commission. There were IOC Members on the commission, but the bulk of this commission was made up of representatives of the television and radio networks worldwide, as well as representatives of the Organizing Committee(s) of the Olympics Games (OCOGs) who deal with the electronic media. The RTV was recently disbanded with its duties taken over by the Communications Commission.
