Liberty Bell Classic

Also known as the “Boycott Olympics,” the Liberty Bell Classic was a track and field competition held in Philadelphia in July 1980. Athletes from 29 countries that boycotted the 1980 Olympics participated, notably Canada, China, Kenya, the United States, and West Germany. In all but one event (men’s 110 m hurdles), the Olympic champions outperformed the winners of the Liberty Bell Classic, although marks in different competitions are hard to compare for some events.
