Youth Olympic Games

The Youth Olympic Games is a new concept developed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and more specifically, as the brainchild of IOC President Jacques Rogge. The first edition of these was held in August 2010 in Singapore. The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) are open to athletes between the ages of 14 and 18. The YOG will mostly feature Olympic Sports, but with a shortened program, with fewer events and disciplines. The 2nd Youth Olympic Games were held Nanjing, China in 2014, and the 2018 edition was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 4th Youth Olympic Games will be held five years later, scheduled for 2023, as the IOC has proposed moving the dates do that only one major Olympic festival occurs each year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic they have been postponed to 2026.
