Diving at the 1988 Summer Olympics

Dates 17 – 27 September 1988
Medal Events 4

Diving was contested in 1988 at the Indoor Swimming Pool, at the Olympic Park, or in transliterated Korean, the Su-yeong-jang, Ol-lim-pik Gong-won. This was also the site of the swimming, water polo, synchronized swimming, and the swimming section of the modern pentathlon in 1988. There were four diving events – 3-metre springboard and 10-metre platform for men and women, which remained the standard Olympic diving program through 1996. Greg Louganis finished his Olympic career by winning both events in Seoul, repeating his 1984 performance for the double-double. Both women’s events were won by Chinese divers, as China was poised to replace the United States as having the world’s best divers.
