Curling at the 1932 Winter Olympics

Dates 4 – 5 February 1932
Non-medal Events 1

Curling was on the program of the 1st Olympic Winter Games at Chamonix in 1924, and current thinking considers it to have been a full medal sport that year. It was also demonstrated at the 1988, and 1992 Olympic Winter Games. In 1998, curling returned to the Olympic Program as a full medal sport at Nagano. In 1936 and 1964, the variant form of German curling, or eisschießen, was demonstrated at Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck, respectively.

In 1932 curling was approved as a “native” sport for demonstration in Lake Placid. There were eight teams, with four from Canada and four from the United States, representing three Canadian provinces (Manitoba, Ontario, Northern Ontario, Québec) and four USA states (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York).
