Ski Jumping at the 1936 Winter Olympics

The ski jumping competition was held on the Groβe Olympia-Schanze (Large Olympic Ski Jump Hill) at the Olympia-Skistadion in Garmisch. The hill had a K-Point of 80 m although this distance was not reached due to the weather conditions on the day. 48 jumpers from 14 countries competed in front of an estimated crowd of 150,000. Birger Ruud of Norway became the first man to successfully defend an Olympic title in this sport.
