Description

The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) was founded on 28 June 1981 in Lomé, Togo. The organisation consists of the 54 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from the African nations, and is also known as the Association des Comités Nationaux Olympiques d’Afrique (ACNOA), its French name. The association has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. The predecessor was the Standing Committee of African Sports (SCAS), which was founded in July 1965 in Brazzaville, Congo and renamed to Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA) on 14 December 1966 in Bamako, Mali.
