Description

The Union Internationale Amateur de Football Association (UIAFA) was an international governing body of football (soccer) which competed with FIFA for a short time between 1909 and 1913. It was formed after a conflict between national governing bodies in England, the Football Association (FA) and the Amateur Football Association (AFA). The AFA tried to join FIFA but was not admitted. In solidarity, the Union des sociétés françaises de sports athlétiques (USFSA) left FIFA. At the same time the Český svaz footballový (ČSF; Czech Football Federation) was expelled from FIFA, after protests by the Österreichischer Fußball-Verband (ÖFV – Austria).

These three national federations then formed UIAFA in March 1909. Within the next two years, Spanish, Belgian, and Swiss federations joined UIAFA, and possibly groups from Austria, South America, and British East Africa. A Polish organization also applied for membership. UIAFA became inactive circa early 1913 after the feuds between the various national governing bodies were resolved.
