Bicycle Polo

First played in Ireland in 1891, bicycle polo’s growing popularity led to a demonstration match between Ireland and Germany being included in the program at the 1908 Olympic Games. Although the sport has been included in the Asian Games, the chances of it becoming an Olympic sport are very remote, as it does not have an international federation currently recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Bicycle polo is loosely governed by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
