Biography

Laurie Baker played two seasons at Providence College, before joining the US National Team, still scoring 75 goals in only two years. In her second season at Providence, she had 43 goals, 28 assists, and 71 points. Baker was ECAC Rookie of the Year in 1996, and ECAC All-Star First Team forward in 1997. She played for the US at the 1997 and 2000 World Championships, in addition to her Olympic appearances in 1998 and 2002, and was named USA Hockey Player of the Year in 1997. Baker later married, living in Massachusetts, and is the girls’ varsity hockey coach at Browne and Nichols School.
