Biography

Vladimir Tsyplakov played hockey for Belarus at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics. In the former Soviet Union Tsyplakov played for Torpedo Yaroslavl and Dynamo Minsk. In 1992 he came to North America where he started out playing minor league hockey in the Eastern Hockey League and International Hockey League. Tsyplakov eventually played parts of six seasons in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings and Buffalo Sabres. Drafted in the third round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings, he was a regular with them from 1996-99. A winger, Tsyplakov played 331 games in his NHL career, recording 69 goals and 101 assists.

In 2001 Tsyplakov returned to the Russian Superleague, playing with Ak Bars Kazan, CSKA Moskva, and Yunost Minsk, before retiring at the end of the 2005 season. He later became an assistant coach with the Belarus men’s national team.
