Biography

Luigi Musina was an Italian boxer who was Italian amateur light-heavyweight champion in 1935 and 1936. He won the European title in Milano in 1937 and repeated in 1939 in Dublin, also winning the Golden Gloves title that year.

At 26 Musina made his professional début. In April 1942, Musina defeated German Richard Vogt to win the European light-heavyweight title. In May 1943 he defeated Giovanni Martin for the Italian light-heavyweight crown.

After World War II, Musina fought former world heavyweight champion Primo Carnera three times, defeating him each time, although it should be noted that these were the final three bouts of Carnera’s career. Musina retired in September 1946, with a professional record of 38 wins (18 by KO), 9 losses, and 5 draws.
