Biography

Sabine Rückauer, sister of Stephanie Wartosch-Kürten and non-Olympian Sandra Westrich, was a German ice hockey defender who finished sixth in 2002 at Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. She also played in two World Championships and won 123 international caps, scoring 14 goals and 22 assists.

At the club level, Rückauer played with Neusser SC (until 1993), ESG Esslingen (1995-98, 2009-13 and 2016-18), TV Lady Kodiaks Kornwestheim (2001-06 and 2007-08), OSC Berlin (2007), and SC Bietigheim-Bissingen (since 2018). She helped Esslingen win the German national titles from 1995-98 and Kornwestheim from 2001-04. Rückauer was a trained saleswoman and raised five children, mainly between 2013 and 2016.
