Biography

Larissa Schaerer was a Paraguayan tennis player who played professionally from 1991 to 2002. Schaerer achieved a career-best singles ranking of #136 in the world in February 1998, and a doubles ranking of #128 in the world in October 1998. She played on Paraguay’s Fed Cup team from 1991, when she was 16-years-old, to 2004.

Schaerer won her first ITF doubles title in August 1991 in São Paulo with her partner Rossana de los Ríos. Schaerer went on to win a further 12 doubles titles as well as 11 ITF singles titles during her career. Schaerer and de los Ríos competed in the doubles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics but the pair lost in the first round. Schaerer only made the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament once during her career when she played in the doubles first round at Wimbledon in 1999 with her partner Alina Jidkova.
