Katja Wakan, daughter of Gudrun Berend, was a German sprinter and member of the 4x100 metres relay squad at the 2004 Athens Olympics. The foursome was eliminated in the heats with Wakan running the first leg. Four years later at Beijing, she was a reserve but did not start. The next year Wakan enjoyed her greatest moment by finishing fifth in the relay at the World Championships. In 2007, Wakan finished seventh at the Worlds with the relay.
