Gyozo Török worked for the Hungarian railway and joined their cycling team in the early 1950s. In the mid-1950s Török then represented Budapesti Honvéd before spending a decade with Újpesti TE. He had an impressive record at home, winning 17 national championships, along with the general classification of the Tour of Hungary in 1955 and 1956. He also had several podium finishes at the Tour of Slovakia, along with a stage win at the 1958 edition of the Tour of Egypt.
In 1960 Török was one of four Hungarian cyclists to be selected to compete in the individual road race at the Roma Olympics. The Games, however, were a disaster for the team after they were entered but did not start when the Hungarian Cycling Federation withdrew all their cyclists after one member went to the wrong doctor. After the Games he continued cycling for a few more years, including in several editions of the Peace Race, and placing eighth in the team road race at the 1963 World Championships. Sadly Török was only 51-year-old when he died by suicide in April 1987.
