Biography
Jarrod Bannister was a javelin thrower who competed at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. The highlight of his international career was winning the gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He also competed at the 2007 and 2011 World Championships. In February 2008 Bannister recorded 89.02 at a meet in Brisbane for an Australian and Oceania record. In 2013 Bannister received a 20-month doping ban after missing three drug tests. He died at only 33-years-old in Eindhoven, Netherlands, where he was training.
