Biography

Arthur Carr, Harry Nicoll and Harry Lewellyn became the first Britons to win an Olympic show jumping medal when they won the bronze in the team event at the 1948 London Games behind Mexico and Spain. In the individual competition, Carr was the lowest placed of the three Britons. A Brigadier in the British Army, Carr was the Regimental Colonel of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards in 1967-72. He was, by then, an OBE and an established show jumping judge, and steward of the British Show Jumping Association.
