Biography

Brian Booth played hockey for Australia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, but he is much better known as a cricketer. He established himself as a member of St. George Club, later becoming a life member. He played 29 Test matches for Australia from 1961-66, including the 1961 Ashes series in England.

In his 29 test matches, Booth scored 1,773 runs at an average of 42.21, with five 100s. He played 93 first-class matches for New South Wales, scoring 5,577 runs (43.57) and 11 100s. He was twice a Test skipper for Australia. After he was removed from the national team he received a letter from then selector Sir Donald Bradman in which he apologized for the removal.
