After graduating from university Paul Allaire joined the Xerox Corporation in 1966 as a financial analyst. Allaire spent the rest of his working life with the company, later serving as their President (1986–91), CEO (1990–2001), and their chairman (1991–2001). He helped to lead the company from black-and-white copying to colour, and then onto the digital age. In 2000 the International Olympic Committee recognised the efforts of the company during the Sydney Games, which included awarding Allaire with the Olympic Order in Silver.
