Born in Aruba in 1953 William Millerson began his love of karate while studying in the Netherlands. In 1973 Millerson had become the Dutch champion before winning silver the same year at the European Championships in Spain. Two years later he won another European silver along with bronze at the World Championships in Long Beach. In 1976 he became the champion of Latin America and the champion of the Caribbean.
After his competitive career Millerson was appointed as the Secretary General of the Pan American Karate Federation (PKF), later serving as their President from 1993 until 2013. In 1997 he was elected as the President of the National Olympic Committee of the Netherlands Antilles. He served in this role until 2013 when the committee was disbanded following the dissolution of the country in 2010. Millerson was elected to the Parliament of Curaçao in 2017 after standing as a candidate for the Party for the Restructured Antilles in the Curaçao general election.
